Broken Arrow, Oklahoma / January 5, 2023 – PACCAR Winch is proud that their commitment to providing an outstanding work environment for veterans continues to be recognized locally and nationally. From community outreach to employee programs, the company is dedicated to recruiting, developing and celebrating veterans.
On November 10, 2022, the U.S. Department of Labor recognized PACCAR Winch as a recipient of the 2022 HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award for the fourth year in a row. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire and retain veterans.
Recipients of the 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages; availability of veteran-specific resources; leadership programming for veterans; dedicated human resource efforts; pay compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans. For more information, visit HIREVets.gov.
In addition, PACCAR Winch was recognized on November 7 by Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum, Community Service Council (CSC), and CSC’s Oklahoma Veteran Alliance as a Veteran Employer Champion. The Veteran Employer Champions program was created with the goal of building an employer network to create programming and peer-to-peer learning for organizations interested in recruiting, hiring and developing veterans in the workplace.
To become recognized as a Veteran Employer Champion, companies must meet seven benchmarks, including: veteran hiring and recruiting; veteran resource groups, onboarding, or buddy programs; veteran programs and community support; veteran employee resources and/or supports; veteran executive sponsor leading veteran strategies; guard and reserve employee supports; and intentionally provide opportunity for their employees to show their military pride.
PACCAR Winch is proud to have 10% of its current employee population as veterans. The company places a priority on serving and celebrating its U.S. military veteran employees in various ways throughout the year. From a newly formed affinity group to raising awareness of available benefits to sponsoring a local 5K, the company continuously looks for ways to support the men and women who have served our country and are now an important part of the PACCAR Winch team.
